The research conducted at my chair focuses in particular on the significance of aesthetic, cultural and artistic educational processes under conditions of cultural transformation. The focus of my work is on historiographically sensitised educational theory formation on aesthetic and media phenomena as well as on (qualitative-reconstructive) empirical research on phenomena such as post-digital culture. As a committed member of the UNESCO UNITWIN network Arts Education Research for Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development, the Chair is particularly committed to global/glocal thinking and cultural-theoretical as well as postcolonial perspectives.

CV

Born on 8 September 1968 in Krefeld/North Rhine-Westphalia.

M.A. studies in educational science and philosophy in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Berlin. Study focus: critical theory, post-structuralism, socialisation theory, historical anthropology.

Graduated with a Master’s thesis on “Identity and Self. Conceptual, historical and critical aspects”. The thesis was published as volume 1 of the series “Berliner Arbeiten zur Erziehungs- und Kulturwissenschaft” by the Institute for Educational Science and Psychology at the Free University of Berlin.

Research assistant at the Department of Anthropology and Education, Department of Education and Psychology, Free University of Berlin under the direction of Prof. Dr. Christoph Wulf from October 2000 to September 2004.

Collaboration on project B5 “The production of the social in rituals and ritualisations” of the Collaborative Research Centre 447 “Cultures of the Performative” from 2001 to 2006.

Doctorate (s.c.l.) to Dr. phil. with a dissertation on the topic “Image – Medium – Reality. The Reality of the Social and the New Media” (date of disputation: 7 February 2005).

Research assistant at the Chair of General Education, Institute of Educational Science, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg under the direction of Prof. Dr. Winfried Marotzki from October 2004 to March 2011.
