Prof. Dr. Benjamin Jörissen is Chairholder of the Chair of Education with a focus on Culture and Aesthetic Education at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). The Chair’s research aims to contribute to an understanding of the role of aesthetic, arts and cultural education in a transforming and diverse world. Fields of work include the development of an educational aesthetic and media theory, empirical research in postdigital culture including several large research projects on digitalization in arts education, as well as UNESCO-related and postcolonial perspectives. Benjamin is, amongst others, member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, member of the UNESCO UNITWIN Network Arts Education Research for Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development, member of the Advisory Board of the German Council for Arts and Cultural Education (Rat für Kulturelle Bildung), of the Advisory Board of the Grimme Research Council, spokesman of the Interdisciplinary Center for Aesthetic Education at the Univ. Erlangen-Nuremberg, chairman of the Bavarian Conference of University Pedagogues, and of course member of the German Educational Research Association (GERA/DGfE).
