On our upcoming winterschool „Spectra of Transformation“, I will hold a workshop about the (post-) digital transformation of (the conditions of) aesthetic and arts education, with special regards to the impacts on our very concepts of arts/aesthetics and education.
I assembled a playlist on youtube wich covers theoretical reflections as well as many practical examples. It should be interesting for everyone involved in the fields of arts education. Click here. If there’s anything interesting missing, please add a comment there.
We are very happy to announce that the VolkswagenFoundation informed us today to support our international Winterschool „Spectra of Transformation“, which will take place next February. The program supports events that „aim toward new scientific ideas and research approaches“. It is encouraging to see that the approach developed by us (the team of my chair) – to put an innovative view on Aesthetic, Arts and Cultural Education by focusing on the spectra of transformative dynamics changing the field – finds acknowledgement.
Application is still open until Dec 14th, 2016. For further information visit http://winterschool-spectra.fau.de/ (or get the Flyer).
As the Erlangen Institute of Pedagogics is involved in several international research networks (INRAE, ENO) related to aesthetic, arts and cultural education, and even hosts a UNESCO Chair for Culture and Arts in Education, this is obviously a good starting point for the internationalization of our study courses.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that much of the contents in our study courses is originally in german (esp. theory of „Bildung“) and students generally prefer to speak german in class, it is not really easy to introduce english courses.
However, in order to provide international perspectives in our MA Pedagogics, I found that implementing a UNESCO-related course would make it easy to give this one course in english. My english is for sure less than perfect (as you may have noticed), and so is the english spoken in our international networks – but we do get along, and we manage to have deep conversations about our ideas and issues. This is an experience we’d like to open up to our students.
Minor flaw: The course description is still in german, as it has to be…
